A truck driver in Shimla was allegedly lynched by a mob for suspecting that he was smuggling cattle.
According to media reports, a Muslim man named Noman was found in a truck in a seriously injured situation by Himachal Pradesh police. However, Noman succumbed to injuries when taken to this hospital. As reported by a leading daily, his relative Imran Asgar, who was travelling with him claimed that Noman was beaten up by Bajrang Dal activists after they stopped the truck carrying cattle.
The four other occupants of the truck were booked under the Himachal Pradesh Cow Slaughter Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act after police found the truck was carrying cattle, the report added. On September 29, Mohmmad Akhlaq was dragged out of his home and stoned to death on a village street after a public announcement from the local temple that the family had slaughtered a calf and eaten its meat.
