Congratulating Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) founder Sharad Pawar on 'Amrit Parva' celebrations organised to mark his 75th birthday (on December 12) at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said, "We hear about 'One Life, One Mission' but to devote one's life to it is not simple."

"Sharad Pawar ji's commitment to his work is commendable. Whenever you meet him, even for ten minutes, he will bring up the issue of farmers. He would always focus on innovation in agriculture. Even today, talk about sugarcane and he will talk for an hour," said the Prime Minister.

"Sharad Pawar's father was linked to the cooperative movement and his mother was associated with education. He has been active in the cooperative sector, and balanced politics and the cooperative movement," he said.

"Sharad Pawar met me on his way to Pune and he came with details on Gujarat's agriculture sector. He explained key farmer issues to me," said the Prime Minister.

"Like a farmer who can gauge the weather, Sharad Rao is aware which way the political wind is blowing," said Prime Minister Modi in a lighter vain.
