Former Gujarat chief minister and veteran politician Shankersinh Vaghela on Tuesday endorsed the third front at a press conferrence in Gujarat. Vaghela who left Congress on July 22 said that the third front in Gujarat did not aim to cause harm or to give benefit to any existing political party in the state by vote polarisation in the upcoming polls. The third front is named as Jan Vikalp Party, but Vaghela termed this as a forum and not a political party.

"This is not a political party, but a forum, and any person or party which is open to accepting the agenda of full power in the hands of people can join it. I am endorsing this forum but will not contest polls. We have decided that the contestant of third front will be fielded in all constituencies but tickets will be given to those who our workers and common people prefer. There won't be any high command in this forum. People will decide everything here."

"We are not going to beg for votes from people. If they really need a political option in Gujarat, they should come forward to support us. This third front will be a joint venture of common people and politicians. We are not here to cause harm or to give benefit to any of the two major political parties in Gujarat through polarisation of votes and will not make any compromise on our agenda to attain power in Gujarat," he added.

Vaghela enlisted agenda of his party that includes unemployment allowance to youth, security to women, full pay to government employees and workers of government agencies, relief from burden of GST to businessmen and solution for communities on agitation. Vaghela also said that he will not make any personal allegations on any of BJP or Congress leaders but will criticise the policies of the party which went adverse to people's interest.

The convener of the Jan Vikalp Party Bhaumik Thakar said that their forum had conducted a survey before launching it and majority of people opted that Vaghela should become Gujarat chief minister. They had also appealed to Vaghela to take reigns into his hands.
