Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) chief Vikas Singh led a delegation to Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and presented a 15-point suggestion for his consideration on Wednesday. The delegations to the CJI continue a week after four senior judges held a press conference accusing the top judge of tinkering with a well-established mechanism in the Supreme Court (SC).

In his submission, Singh requested the CJI to prepone the time for mentioning matters by half-an-hour on days the apex court is hearing Constitution bench matters. Singh suggested that the apex court should look into establishing a roaster of allotment of matters. Among other issues, the SCBA also included issues on the designation of senior advocates and recommendations for the elevation of lawyers to various high courts.

The meeting attended by the newly elected office bearers further sought additional security outside lawyers chambers, the allocation of one-acre land at the old Appu Ghar site among other administrative issues.

A day after Justices Jasti Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan Lokur and Kurian Joseph held a press conference criticising the apex court administration under the Chief Justice, Singh had met CJI Misra and urged him to call a full court to look into the concerns raised.
