After a teen schoolgirl in Bihar's Saran district alleged that she was gang-raped and blackmailed by her principal, two teachers and 15 students on the school premises for the last seven months, the police arrested two more persons on Saturday, taking the total number of those arrested so far to six.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of police led by DSP Ajay Kumar Singh has been constituted to probe the matter, after the girl lodged a complaint with Saran Superintendent of Police Harkishore Rai.

According to her complaint, the victim was first raped by three students in the school toilet in December 2017 and they filmed the incident on camera. They continued to sexually assault her by blackmailing and threatening to make the video viral. "When she approached the principal, he advised her against lodging any police complaint. Later, he and two other teachers also raped and blackmailed her," the SP said.

A police source said the girl, a minor studying in Class IX of Deepeshwar Niketan in Parsagarh, was reluctant to lodge any police complaint as her father was in jail and has been released very recently, following which she told her family about her ordeal and they reported to the police. A medical investigation of the victim has been conducted and reports are awaited.

Among those arrested by the police are school's principal-cum-founder Uday Kumar alias Mukund, teacher Balaji and four students, and raids are underway to nab the rest including another teacher named Satya Prakash. The principal's son is also an accused in the incident.

A detailed report of the investigation has been sought by Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) K S Dwivedi, after the incident kicked up a political storm in Bihar.

The Opposition RJD has attacked the Bihar government over its "failure to check crime against women". RJD leader and MP Manoj Jha said, "It is shocking and disturbing to the core..where are we heading? Unmistakable signs of a sick society. Nothing in the name of government is the reality in Bihar. Gang-rape shocker in Saran school."
