Even as the protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Padmavati' refuse to die down, a new controversy has erupted over a dance performance on the movie's hit song 'Ghoomar'.

On Wednesday, a video of Mulayam Singh Yadav's younger daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav went viral. According to media reports, the wife of Samajwadi patriarch's younger son Prateek Yadav danced to the tunes of the Shreya Ghoshal number at the engagement ceremony of her brother Aman Bisht. The celebrations took place at a 5-star hotel in Lucknow.

While the well-choreographed performance shows Aparna Yadav's efforts, but the fringe groups are not impressed.

Reacting to the video, Karni Sena's Lokendra Singh Kalvi said, 'We are fighting for our cause. Being a Rajput she is dancing on such songs without caring for the sentiments of Rajput. We will send them the original Ghoomar song and other Rajasthani folk songs if they like it so much.'

The viral video come days after one of the members of the Samajwadi Party announced a Rs 5 crore bounty on 'Padmavati' actor Deepika Padukone.

Thakur Som, who is also an office-bearer of the Chatriya Samaj, warned the Bollywood star to leave the country or face beheading.

"The role played by Deepika has hurt the sentiments of Rajput women. No Rajput woman dances in public. Director Sanjay has no knowledge of the history of Rajputs in the country. He has distorted historical facts and should be punished," Som was quoted as saying by Zee News.

Though Akhilesh Yadav or his father have not made any statement on the film, senior leader such as Azam Khan tried to put the issue in new light.

Talking about the fact vs fiction issue, Khan on November 21 had said, “There is an objection to the story of a film. Famous film Mughal-e-Azam showed Anarkali as Saleem's mehbooba (lover), when in reality there is no such thing.”
