Militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir fear that Pakistan's action might be the beginning of a bigger crackdown on Jihadi organisations prompting some Kashmiri separatist leaders to call for indigenous way of struggle for the long term sustenance.
Alarm bells are ringing for the militants and separatists after Pakistan detained Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) founder and Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed and put his aides on the exit control list.

"Detaining Hafiz Saeed will prove fatal for the ongoing freedom movement of Kashmir. Pakistan government should revisit the decision of detaining Hafiz Saeed", said Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi, Lashkar spokesman quoting his Kashmir chief Mehmood Shah.
United Jihad Council (UJC), the umbrella group of over a dozen militant outfits based in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), said Saeed's arrest could sent a negative message to the people of the Jammu and Kashmir. "Pakistan should stand by the Kashmiris," said Syed Salahudin, chief of UJC.
Currently there are around 250-300 militants operating in J&K of whom nearly 225 are listed militants. Around 100 of these militants are Pakistanis, a majority owing allegiance to LeT headed by Saeed. Plus, local militants of LeT are also working in tandem with foreign counterparts in the valley.
Post Burhan Wani's killing on July 8 last year, nearly 59 locals have joined militancy in Kashmir. Separatists are rattled as Pakistan may ban all militant outfits in next few months with pressure from Indian and US government.
