Rallying for revival of rivers across the country, spiritual leader Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev proceeded with his journey from Jaipur on Thursday with more confidence for success of his cause. His relentless persuasion for conservation of water and natural resources was enthusiastically received by thousands of young and adult citizens of Rajasthan. He was also delighted to see that Rajasthan’s tradition of water conservation has boosted under the state government’s flagship campaign, Mukhymantri Jal Swalamban Abhiyan (MJSA).

The spiritual leader on a water crusade has been driving across the country to raise awareness for conservation of water bodies. In Rajasthan, he was impressed to witness the progress of MJSA that too shares the same concern and holds promise of a better water sufficient tomorrow.

“The pioneering work done by the Rajasthan government for water conservation is commendable,” said Sadguru while addressing a gathering at Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC) at Sitapura on Thursday. “There is need to work further in this direction, else there will be no water left for us after 25 years,” he added.

Sadguru has commenced on a Rally for Rivers from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on September 3 and after crossing a dozen states and numerous cities he arrived in Rajasthan from UP border on Wednesday.

His arrival at the state has been welcomed by chief minister Vasundhara Raje who has been on a similar campaign in the state under MJSA since January, 2016. Passionate about the water conservation in state, the chief minister  was eager to discuss the progress of these with the spiritual leader on water crusade.

“We are dedicated to the cause of water conservation and through MJSA and Dravyavati Riverfront project are working to preserve our water resources,” she said, affirming the dedication of her government at the event jointly organised by Rally for Rivers campaign and MJSA at JECC. “Water conservation is though not a political campaign, we had initiated efforts for it even when in opposition in 2011,” she said, stressing the relevance of such campaigns.

The chief minister also briefed the spiritual leader about the progress of Dravyavati river rejuvenation efforts and plan to improve water scenario at 21,000 villages of Rajasthan under MJSA. She was accompanied by several of her ministers and senior officers on the occasion.

“The MJSA has begun to yield desirable results over past few years in the state and the efforts of Sadguru for revival of crumbling rivers across the country is commendable,” said Rajendra Rathore, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development minister.

At the event, the chief minister also awarded three sarpanchs for the outstanding progress in MJSA in their respective areas. A book on MJSA was also jointly released by the CM and Sadguru. As Sadguru proceeded towards Chandigarh to continue his rally that will conclude in New Delhi on October 2, he was filled with optimism over the progress he witnessed in Rajasthan.
