Road scam guilty get more time

While on the one hand, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration vowed to get cracking on contractors found guilty in the road scam, the civic body seem to be now showing leniency towards these contractors.

Even as the 15 days time to reply to the show cause notice is coming to an end, the roads department is all set to give another fortnight to these contractors to prepare their reply. Senior civic officials fear this extra time period will give the contractors enough time to circumvent the rules.

"If their replies and explanations are not found satisfactory, the administration will blacklist them. The issuing of notices will lead to their suspension", said a civic official from the Roads Department.
