Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday garnered full support from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Janata Dal (United) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) after he questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's self-proclaimed 'mother-son' relationship with the River Ganga.

The RJD dubbed Prime Minister Modi as the 'killer of truth' and added the people have lost their faith in him.

"If, after Trump, somebody will be known for killing the truth, it will be our Prime Minister and his friends. Nitish ji rightly said that after winning, did he (Prime Minister Modi) once asked what were the requirements of the River Ganga. He was speaking the same in Manipur what he spoke in Uttar Pradesh. There is a dignity of the Prime Minister's office and if the person holding it moves away from truth, then people lose their faith in that position itself," RJD spokesperson Manoj Jha told ANI.

The JD(U) opined the same, saying that the Prime Minister failed to fulfill any of his promises he made during campaigning for the Varanasi elections.

"He talked about the time when the Prime Minister went on to fight Banaras elections but later, failed to fulfill any of his promises. Mentioning about that is not at all wrong," JD (U) leader K.C. Tyagi told ANI.

Seconding Nitish Kumar's view, the NCP leader Tariq Anwar said Prime Minister Modi did not pay any attention towards the deteriorating condition of the River Ganga.

"Whatever Nitish ji said is right. The condition of the River Ganga is known to everybody. Big assurances were given to people that the river would be cleansed, but even after almost three years, the ganga putra (Prime Minister Modi) has paid no heed to the situation," he told ANI.

Nitish on Saturday took a dig at Prime Minister Modi by questioning his 'mother-son' relationship with the holy river.

'Kaha gaya 'Maa Ganga ne bulaya hai', lekin hum Banaras gaye toh log keh rahe the Ganga Maa khoj rhi thi kahan gaya mera beta," he said while addressing a rally in Patna.
