500 guest were invited from across India, Nepal and US to celebrate Gyalwang Drukpa?s birth anniversary in Kathmandu on March 5, 2017. The occasion witnessed honoring of the compassionate leadership of Gyalwang Drukpa.

The event witnessed Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of the Art of Living Foundation, who shares His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa?s passion for peace building and service.

Also, Dr. Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, Chief Imam of the All India Organization of Imams of Mosques; His Holiness Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni, prominent Jain spiritual leader; and Bhikkhu Sanghasena, the founder and president of Mahabodhi International Meditation Center, who traveled to Kathmandu and surprised His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa for his birthday.

His Holiness, Gyalwang Drukpa was presented with a US congressional resolution from Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), the U.S. Congresswoman for New York?s 12th Congressional District.

The resolution paid tribute to the Gyalwang Drukpa as a world-renowned humanitarian, environmentalist, and champion of gender equality, recognizing his efforts to provide relief services to tens of thousands in the Himalayas following the devastating 2015 earthquake in Nepal; to protect against soil erosion and support clean air through his One Million Trees project; and to empower, educate, protect, and inspire girls and women in the Himalayas and around the world.

The celebrations will continue in full swing till March 8, 2017.
