An assembly of over 2,000 Hindu seers, which was conevned to give a push to the construction of a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, ended up giving a strong political message to reelect Narendra Modi as Prime Minister in 2019.

As the two-day session of the Akhil Bhartiya Sant Samiti concluded on Sunday, it sought unequivocal support from voters to ensure a repeat win for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming polls.

The assembly also "directed" the government to bring in a legislation or an ordinance for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya without further delay. It said the dharmadesh (religious commandment) was being given for the first time in 5,000 years because the time is "right and favourable".

"Though we are hurt that the way for a Ram Mandir on Ramjanmabhoomi was not paved, we are satisfied with the works done by the current government in the field of religion, culture, national security and pride. All our expectations are from this government alone. We are confident that it will resolve all our problems," said Hansdeva Acharya of Jagannathdham Ashram, Haridwar.

The Acharya was reading out from a resolution adopted by the assembly, amid loud chants of Jai Shriram.

"Had it been any other government, none of the saints would have been here. They would have imposed Section 144 and we would have been locked in Tihar Jail. If this not acche din then what is?" said Hansdeva.

He asserted that if Hindu culture was to be saved, the only way out was to bring the incumbent government to power. He asked people not to use None Of The Above (NOTA) option while voting as it could diminish the chances of BJP's victory and result in "wrong and bad people" getting elected.

"Give your vote only to those candidates who believe in Gai, Ganga, Gita, Gayatri, Govind. Use your vote for Rashtradharma," he said.

In its resolution, the assembly, organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) under the banner of All India Sant Committee, also undertook to organise three big events on November 25, at Ayodhya, Nagpur and Bengaluru, to give the cause of Ram Mandir a push.

The date coincides with Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray's visit to Ayodhya for much the same purpose.

After galvanising nationwide support for their agenda, more than 5 lakh seers will assemble in New Delhi on December 9 to show Hindu unity and reassert their resolve for the temple's construction, the resolution stated.

After that, big rallies will be organised in as many as 500 districts across the country, it said.
