Days after a Kargil martyr's daughter initiated a social media campaign over the violent clashes in Delhi University's Ramjas College, a number of individuals took to Twitter to voice their opinion of the placards placed by 20-year-old Gurmehar Kaur.
After Kaur's tweets on Friday, people began sharing a picture of the student of Lady Shri Ram College where she said 'Pakistan did not kill my father. War did.' One of those who took exception to this was former former India cricketer Virender Sehwag, who shared an image of him holding a placard saying, "I did not score two triple centuries. My bat did."

A number of individuals reacted positively and negatively to Sehwag's tweet. While many criticised the cricketer for comparing a cricket match to war, others cheered Sehwag for his quick wit. One of them was actor Randeep Hooda.

However, Kaur, who was a fan of Hooda and even told a few people on Twitter that she loved Highway, didn't take too kindly to the tweet.
@RandeepHooda thanks a lot. Really sweet of you to encourage the hate I've been receiving. Makes me feel happy that I adored your work :)

To which Hooda responded
@mehartweets Pls don't credit me with so much.Your peace video was good bt now it's political not humanitarian. That's the problem2 begin wth

The battle didn't end there. Senior journalist Shekhar Gupta stepped in to criticise Hooda's tweet.
Sad, from you, Viru & Randeep, big-hearted stars. Nobody's patriotism needs certificates & hers has stamp of her father's supreme sacrifice https://t.co/6UAc98i2tH
— Shekhar Gupta (@ShekharGupta) February 26, 2017
Hooda then responded to Gupta's tweet, questioning if she was being used as a pawn? To which Kaur respondend
@RandeepHooda @ShekharGupta @virendersehwag political pawn? I can think. I don't support violence perpetuated on students? Is that so wrong.

Hooda wanted to have the last word and replied with this
@mehartweets @ShekharGupta @virendersehwag I agree wth u its is absolutely wrong..have a feeling it's not limited to that in interpretation

Incidentally, the 'War Killed My Father' placard that was doing the rounds on social media was a part of a series of placards Kaur had shared in May. Kaur had nearly recalled a story of how she wanted to stab a burkha-clad woman in the eye when she was a child. It was then that her mother told her that Pakistan did not kill her father, war did. The video was shared by SMS Hox slayer on Twitter.
