BJP general secretary Ram Madhav on Wednesday underscored the need for holding parleys between academicians and social leaders for evolving "objective and dispassionate" narrative on Hindu jurisprudence.

Madhav made the statement while addressing the valedictory session of a three-day national seminar on 'Hindu Jurisprudence', jointly organised by Centre for Constitutional and Legal Studies, India Foundation and Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) here. "More such academic engagements between academics and social leaders should be encouraged for evolving an objective and dispassionate narrative on Hindu Jurisprudence," Madhav, also director of the India Foundation, was quoted as saying in a statement.

The seminar was also attended by National Commission for Women chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam, ICPR member secretary M P Singh and academician V K Dixit. Kumaramangalam maintained that condition of women in the country has witnessed "significant" positive changes in the recent past, but said "a lot still needs to be done".

The programme was attended by 100 delegates including academic researchers, thinkers and activists, the statement reads. More than 25 papers on multiple dimensions of Hindu Jurisprudence were presented during the event.
