Rajdhani Express delayed due to rail blockade

The Rajdhani Express from Guwahati and some local trains were delayed for about 40 minutes at Khalaigram railway station in Jalpaiguri district due to a rail blockade by CPI(M) cadres on Saturday.

The party workers put up the blockade demanding CBI enquiry into the unnatural death of a girl whose body was found on the rail track near the station on September 1, police officials said.

Although Railway police claimed that it was a case of suicide, party workers alleged that she had been raped and murdered, they said. The Delhi-bound Rajdhani and other trains resumed journey after the blockade was lifted after about 40 minutes following persuation by both local and rail police force, they said.
