An app for paperless unreserved tickets in the suburban (MMTS) section in Hyderabad and Secunderabad is going to be launched by the minister of railways Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday. A report in The New Indian Express states that a similar function will also be held at Platform No.10 of the Secunderabad railway station (Bhoiguda side) at 3.30 pm.

The 'Paperless Mobile Ticket' is a railways initiative which allows for seamless ticketing facility for suburban rail users using their smartphones. The report adds that the app is available (Android and Windows OS) on Google Play Store and Windows Store. A person can download the app and register his mobile number through his smartphone or log onto http://www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in. The app can be used for booking unreserved tickets at any of the stations of Secunderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.

You can recharge the R-wallet and start to book tickets. The R-wallet is rechargeable only in multiples of Rs 100 and you can have a maximum of Rs 5000 in it. UTS railway booking counters will do the recharge for you or you can log onto http://www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in  and do it through Internet banking.

There are some restrictions too - you can only book the tickets on the app outside the station and within 5 kms of the station where you are starting the journey. You can also buy platform tickets on the app but this is within 2 kms from the station. For season tickets there are no such restrictions and you can do the renewal upto 10 days in advance.
