Congress party vice president Rahul Gandhi arrived in Nagpur on Wednesday, where he will undertake a 'kisan padayatra' on Thursday.

Rahul, who recently returned from a 56-day hiatus, has been vocal in his support for farmers and opposition to the Land Bill.

During Zero Hour in the Parliament on Wednesday, he pointedly asked the government whether the nation's farmers were part of its 'Make in India' initiative, and whether they had not 'Made in India' already. He also told Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Punjab and Haryana to see for himself the plight of the farmers.

The ruckus that ensued thereafter forced Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to adjourn the House on a couple of occasions. Earlier on Tuesday, the Congress vice-president left for Punjab by train to assess the plight of the farmers.

After meeting the farmers of Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab, Rahul said that the Land Acquisition Bill is meant to snatch the land away from the farmers to benefit the industrialists.
