Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi arrived at the Army Research and Referral Hospital to inquire about the medical status of former defence minister Jaswant Singh who has been put on life support after he reportedly slipped at home and grievously injured his head. Singh is being constantly monitored by a team of neurosurgeons and critical care providers.

Examination at the hospital showed him to be in coma, with signs of 'raised intracranial tension and a haematoma scalp'. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also arrived at the hospital to enquire about the ex-BJP veteran's health. Other BJP leaders like Shahnawaz Hussain and Rajiv Pratap Rudy also visited the hospital to inquire about Jaswant Singh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, spoke to the family of former Union Minister Jaswant Singh this morning. Senior BJP leader L K Advani also visited the veteran leader today.

Jaswant Singh had left the BJP earlier this year after the party denied him a ticket to contest from the Barmer constituency in Rajasthan. He preferred to contest the polls as an Independent, but lost to a Congress Party candidate, Col.(Retd) Sonaram Choudhary .
