A slew of queer CBSE rules for NEET examinees like those forcing candidates to resize their full sleeves shirts to half and girls to discard their nosepins and earrings to take the test angered the DMK no end today.

Taking strong exception to various restrictions imposed on medical course aspirants during the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test held in Tamil Nadu, the DMK said the students faced "harassment" and "humiliation" and demanded action against those responsible for these bans.

In an apparent reference to various incidents like the candidates being forced to resize their full sleeve shirts to half among others, DMK Working President MK Stalin sought action against those responsible for such incidents. "They (candidates) faced so much of harassment and were treated in ways they would feel humiliated... The DMK strongly condemns this. Action should be taken against those responsible for it," he told reporters here.

Unaware of the do's and don'ts, many aspirants who appeared for NEET for the first time yesterday, had faced a piquant situation in parts of the state, with some even forced to customise their shirts and abandon their footwear to gain entry into the exam hall.

The girls had to hurriedly take away their hair pins and bands, and ornaments like earrings and nose-pin as these accessories were not allowed as per the norms set by the CBSE, which organised the test.

The DMK, which is strictly opposed to the NEET, recalled its "wholehearted" support to the state government bills in the assembly seeking exemption for Tamil Nadu students from the examination.
