The mystery behind the suspicious murder of Rohit Shekhar Tiwari deepens as new revelations indicate that a family feud over property might be the reason for the alleged murder.

Rohit was the son of former UP chief minister and Congress stalwart ND Tiwari who was killed on April 16.

Rohit's mother Ujjwala on Sunday alleged that her daughter-in-law Apoorva and her family were money minded and wanted to acquire his property. "Apoorva always had issues with Rajiv and Kumkum. Rajiv is my relative and has served to our family for long. He was also OSD to ND Tiwari," she said.

She further claimed that, in the coming days she will give out information and denied reports of Rohit's affair with Kumkum.

It was also alleged that, Apoorva got furious when Rohit took Rajiv and Kumkum along with them to Uttrakhand. "Apoorva's family wanted to take control of the properties of both my sons as this house is near to Supreme Court where Apoorva is practising law," said Ujjwala adding that, Apoorva was disappointed and expressed her displeasure over the fact that my elder son Siddharth wanted to give Rajiv's son, Karthik, a share in the property.

Rohit first met Apoorva in 2017 through a matrimonial website and tied the knot in a high profile wedding in national capital last year.

According to the sources, Rohit possessed two mobile numbers, one of which was switched off on April 15 at around 6:30 pm while the other number was switched off at around 9:30 pm on the same day. The reason could be bad signal conditions in the defence colony area.

The sources further said, a message was received on one of his number from mobile company on April 16 at around 11 am. However the sources claimed that according to the CDR on April 15 and 16 someone tried to call from Rohit's number but the call was not connected.

On the other hand, Apoorva's number was switched off at around 7:30 pm of April 15 and was switched on around 10:30 am on April 16. Apoorva made a call outside Delhi to someone on April 16. Sources claimed that some major leads have been found regarding the property.

According to the FIR, Max Hospital informed the police around 6.55 pm on April 16 regarding the death of Rohit, who was admitted to emergency ward by his wife Apoorva. A distant relative Rajiv had rushed him to the hospital.

It was also discovered that, a call for ambulance was made at 4.41 pm. While he was being taken to hospital, CPR was given to the victim but he was unconscious and didnt respond. Two ECGs were conducted and he was finally declared dead.

On April 18, the postmortem report revealed the cause of death as unnatural, and reason of of death stated was asphyxia (suffocation) due to ante mortem strangulation and smothering after which a murder case was registered.

On Sunday, Apoorva along with her servant and maid were questioned by police. Apoorva was grilled for eight hours on Saturday.
