Prime Minister Narendra Modi today wished former president Pranab Mukherjee on his birthday and said he prayed for his long and healthy life.
The former President turned 82 today.

Mukherjee was born this day in 1935 in Mirati, a village in the Bengal Presidency of British India (now in Birbhum district, West Bengal).
Apart from PM Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind also wished his predecessor.

Mukherjee, who became Rajya Sabha member in 1969, had four successful stints in 1975, 1981, 1993 and 1991.
Mukherjee, who was known as 'man of all season' in Congress was also Union Minister in the UPA.
