Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a three-nation official visit to China, Mongolia and Korea from May 14 to 19.
Modi will visit China next week, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday, his first trip to India's northern neighbour since being elected last year. Modi, who will be in China from May 14 to 16, will visit Xian, Beijing and Shanghai. He will hold bilateral meetings with China’s leadership and participate in the cultural and business events.
China and India have growing commercial links and deep historical ties, but their recent history has been overshadowed by suspicion and the two have yet to sort out a festering border dispute.
Ahead of his visit, Modi on Monday made debut on Chinese social media platform 'Sina Weibo', becoming the first Indian leader to open an account. "Hello China! Looking forward to interacting with Chinese friends through Weibo," Modi wrote in his first post in Chinese language on the platform, which is akin to Twitter.
While one blogger praised him as handsome another greeted him saying welcome weibo. "One more international personality joined Weibo," read one post.

Prime Minister Modi will also attend an event organized by the Indian community in China.
The Prime Minister will depart for Mongolia on May 17. This would be the first ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Mongolia.
Modi will then visit Korea during which he would hold bilateral discussions with President Park Geun-hye besides meeting important business leaders in Seoul.
