Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded US Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard's participation in the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' and described her efforts in this regard as a special gesture.

Gabbard had earlier on Thursday made an impromptu stop at a public school in the national capital and joined the children in cleaning up the school.

The 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' was launched nationwide to focus on sanitation, hygiene and waste management. The aim of the movement is to make India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
