PM Modi and Amitabh Bachchan in the prestigious guest list for Mulayam's grandnephew's tilak ceremony

The Tilak ceremony of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh's grandnephew Tej Pratap Singh Yadav has been scheduled for February 21, 2015. Tej Pratap, who is an MP from Mainpuri, is getting married to Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's youngest daughter Raj Lakshmi.

Mulayam's ancestral village, Saifai, is gearing up to witness scores of celebrities soon. Reportedly, the guest list of the Tilak ceremony is filled with VVIPs. Sources say that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been personally invited by Mulayam Singh, Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan and Congress President Sonia Gandhi too have been extended and invitation.

Reports suggest that as many as 1 lakh have been invited to the Tilak ceremony. The wedding between Tej Pratap and Raj Lakshmi is set to take place on February 26 and Saifai is being decked up for this occasion. Saifai is not new to celebrations as every year Saifai Mahotsav is organised by the Samjawadi Party with various Bollywood stars flying down to be a part of it.

Pakistani Singer who was in Saifai last year to perform in the Saifai Mahotsav has been invited again to perform in the wedding ceremonies. Also flying down to Saifai on Saturday are a string of Bollywood stars, singers, politicians, state and union cabinet ministers, chief ministers of other states and bureaucrats.

The menu list of the pre-wedding and wedding ceremonies will have traditional Gujarati, UP and Bihari food. Sarrata (Sour Raita), dahi-aloo, bedai, baati-chokha, poori, paneer to name a few. Among the sweet delicacies are imarti, jalebi served with chilled rabri, sohan halwa, kulfi and moong ki daal ka halwa soaked in pure desi ghee. 

To oversee the preparations, Uttar Pradesh DGP A K Jain visited the native village of the SP chief, Saifai in Etawah as VVIPs including Prime Minister Narendra Modi are likely to bless the prospective groom, IG (Public Grievance) A Mutha Jain said in Lucknow. As the Prime Minister and several of his ministerial colleagues are expected to take part in the ceremony, the DGP took stock of the preparations, the IG said.

Meanwhile, in view of Modi's expected visit, his security team visited the venue and reviewed the arrangements. "Though there is no official confirmation of the Prime Minister's visit, advance security teams of PM have reached Saifai, where Tilak ceremony is to be held. I have not yet received official programme of the PM," District Magistrate, Etawah, Nitin Bansal, said.
