Pardhis undertake march on foot to meet Maharashtra Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao

Complaining of being neglected by Maharashtra government, around 700 families of Phase Pardhi community on Tuesday set on foot march to Dharni to meet Maharashtra Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao to apprise him about their problems. Led by Matin Bhosale, the families began walking from Mangrul Chawhala village in the district this morning.

"Our problems have been constantly neglected by the Maharashtra government. We want our farms to be regularised by the revenue department. We have a residential school, but permission is not being granted to advertise posts of teachers and employees," Bhosale told PTI in Amravati on Tuesday.

Bhosale demanded a monthly allowance of Rs 15,000 to families of those who used to catch birds to meet both ends.

"Ever since the government banned hunting birds, these families are starving. We want the government to provide them an allowance of Rs 15,000 per month for their survival," Bhosale said.

"Though we belong to the Pardhi community, we are not issued caste certificates. We want to bring all these things to the notice of the Governor and seek his intervention in the matter," Bhosale said.
