Pakistani troops resorted to yet another ceasefire violation last night in the Hamirpur sector in Poonch.

According to the Army PRO, the firing commenced yesterday between 9 p.m. and 9.30 pm. The Pakistan Army carried out unprovoked intermittent firing using semi automatic and automatic weapons.

Indian troops also responded adequately, but no damage has been reported from the Indian side as yet.

In the past two months, there have been a series of ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops.

Border Security Force (BSF) Director General D K Pathak had yesterday stated that the ceasefire along the borders in Jammu and Kashmir was frequently being broken by Pakistan to infiltrate India.

Pathak said, "One of the reasons or ploy on their (Pakistan's) part is for doing infiltration because on many occasions we have noticed movement of some undesirable elements across the borders. We feel that this is one of the reasons why they are doing the cross-border firing."
