Amid widespread outrage against Karni Sena for targeting a school bus in Gurugram, yet another incident of violence has been reported from Madhya Pradesh’s capital, but with a twist.

In Bhopal, Karni Sena protesters ‘accidently’ torched the car owened by a fellow activist on Wednesday. The car went up in flames at Jyoti Talkies Square, one of the busiest crossings in Bhopal. The protesters were trying to stage a road blockade when the incident took place.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames.

However, a major portion of the car was already burnt by the time the fire tender reached the spot.

Talking to PTI, Bhopal DIG Dharmendra Choudhary said: "A car caught fire during the protests. It is a matter of investigation whether the vehicle was torched or it caught fire."

"We have detained three protesters from Jyoti Talkies Square in this connection," he added.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus released amid tight security across country today. So far, no protest or any untoward incident has been reported. Heavy security has been deployed in Varanasi, Mumbai, Pune and Agra.

The Supreme Court earlier this month paved the way for all-India release of 'Padmaavat' and stayed notifications and orders issued by Rajasthan and Gujarat prohibiting exhibition of the film. The apex court had also restrained other states from issuing such notifications and orders.

The film, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in lead roles, was previously slated for release on December 1, but it had to be postponed as the makers had not got a certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) till then.

The film is based on the saga of the historic 13th century battle between Maharaja Ratan Singh and his army of Mewar and Sultan Alauddin Khilji of Delhi.
