Following his emergence in the Cambridge Analytica scandal as the Indian arm of the data mining firm, Ovleno Business Intelligence (OBI) director Amrish Tyagi, son of JD(U) MP KC Tyagi, said in a statement late on Thursday that his firm had no association with CA and that it only came into existence in January 2010. The statement further stated that “any work of any nature, if any, undertaken by Cambridge Analytica cannot be read against OBI.” Tyagi denied working either for the Congress or the BJP and added that CA’s association with JD(U), as listed in the website, was not true either.

In the statement, Tyagi said that he was one of the firm’s directors and that at the time of its incorporation, the firm or its directors not not undertaken “any work of political nature”.

“However, we want to clarify our position that we met with various political parties for the purpose of political interaction, for the cause of promotion of the firm and to pitch our services. The political parties namely BJP, Congress never signed any digital project with us nor assigned any work during any elections so there is no point of any type of Facebook or any other social media data breach. Also, as claimed by CA website for 2010 Bihar elections, OBI or SCL UK/Cambridge Analytica never worked with JD(U) for any assignment,” read the statement.
