ONGC adopts Jantar Mantar under 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'

 The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has adopted the Jantar Mantar as part of the cleanliness initiative of the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This initiative will see cleanliness being maintained by the ONGCians in and around the heritage monument.

The CMD of ONGC, D.K. Sarraf, kicked off this programme today from the iconic moon dial of Jantar Mantar.

Archana Mathur, the Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, also joined in the cleanliness drive.

More than 100 ONGCians took part in the cleanliness drive.

The ONGC has recently signed a tripartite MoU with Archaeological Survey of India and Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, for cleanliness and conservation of the various iconic historical monuments of India.

The ONGC has already decided for financial support of Rs 20.75 crore for the conservation and cleanliness of Taj Mahal.

Earlier on October 2, the ONGC had launched a massive cleanliness campaign in all its work centers under the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.

Under the mission, ONGC has plans to take up various initiatives including construction of toilet blocks in more than 2500 government schools in 26 districts spread over 13 states during the current financial year at a cost of Rs 100 crores. This initiative is part of the mission to achieve total sanitation in India over a period of next five years.
