Officials booked for registering boy dead for 33 years

Three persons, including two senior government officials, were booked for allegedly registering a minor boy dead for 33 years in official record, police said on Sunday.

A case of cheating against the victim's brother and the other government officials was registered at Majlispur village for allegedly showing him dead to have claim over his property.

According to the police, the incident came to light during a revenue record probe in connection with the land grabbing case at Hastinapur Sanctuary.

The victim Mangey Ram, who now turns 49 and from whom the property was unlawfully seized, complained the same probe officials about his brother's act, they said.

It was later revealed that victim's cousin brother, along with Revenue Inspector Kirshan Kumar and Revenue Clerk Roshan Lal, registered Ram as dead 33 years ago in the official papers, they said.

The victim was 16-year-old at the time of the incident.

The land was transfered his cousin brother alleging that he he was only legitimate owner of the land.

During enquiry, Magey Ram, was found alive despite of he being dead in revenue record and his land transfered to his cousin brother Subhash 33 year ago, the Tehsildar of Jansath Rakesh Kumar said.

Magey Ram has also claimed that he event old the revenue officials to correct his records but they refused to do so, they said. The investigation is underway in the matter, police said.
