NSG braveheart Niranjan Kumar martyred in Pathankot terror attack

His father EK Sivaranjan, a retired BEML employee, moved to Bengaluru 40 years ago.

NSG commando Lt Col Niranjan Kumar was martyred on Sunday after engaging against the terrorists in Pathankot Air Force base. He was killed in the grenade blast in the Air Force base. 

Born in Bengaluru, Kumar's heart lied in his home state of Kerala. He was raised in the city with his two brothers and his sister grew up in Kerala, reports The Indian Express. His family belongs to Elambassert village in Palakkad district.

His father EK Sivaranjan, a retired BEML employee, moved to Bengaluru 40 years ago. 

Kumar would frequently visit Kerala and visited his home town in September for Onam. “I last spoke to him in October when he called to inform me about his promotion. He was very happy. He sent me pictures of his daughter through WhatsApp,” said his uncle.

Kumar is survived by his wife Dr KG Radhika and a two year old daughter Vismay. 

Kumar was with the Madras Engineering Group of the Army before joining the prestigious NSG. His body will be cremated at his native village in Palakkad.
