Forget incursions, it is time to party at Indo-China border in Ladakh. Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Beijing, the Indian army and People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China held a meeting in Chushul Sector of Eastern Ladakh pledging to maintain peace and tranquillity along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Indian army delegation was led by Brigadier JKS Virk while senior Colonel of PLA represented China in the meeting that was held on the occasion of Baisakhi festival on the LAC.

"Thereafter a cultural programme showcasing the vibrant Indian culture and traditional grandeur was organised by the Indian Army," said Colonel SD Goswami, defence spokesman at Northern Command.
The defence spokesman noted that both the delegations interacted in a free, congenial and cordial environment. "The delegations parted amidst feeling of friendship and commitment towards enhancing the existing cordial relations and maintaining peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC)," he said.
Col Goswami said both sides also sought to build on the mutual feeling of upholding the treaties and agreements signed between the governments of the two countries to maintain peace and tranquillity along the LAC.
Tuesday's meeting comes a month ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to China. Modi is scheduled to visit Beijing next month which is being seen as major diplomatic milestone in Sino-India relations.
Jammu and Kashmir is the only state in the country which shares its borders with both Pakistan and China. India shares a 3,488-km border with China while Jammu and Kashmir shares 646 Km of Line of actual control (LAC) with China.
However, the incursions and transgressions by PLA has been a cause of worry for the people in Ladakh division. In April 2013 Indian and PLA were engaged in a major face off when the Chinese troops had crossed 19 kilometer deep inside the Indian Territory at Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) sector on LAC and set up the tented posts. The 20 day standoff ended on May 5 2013 when troops from both sides withdraw to the pre-incursion positions on the LAC.
