Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's convoy was attacked in Buxar, while he was on way to a village in the district as a part of his 'Vikas Kaaryon Ki Sameeksha Yatra' on Friday.

The CM was rescued unharmed in the incident by his security personnel. A probe has been ordered into the happening to find out the 'real' reasons behind it.

Nitish has undertaken the state-wide yatra to review the progress of the developmental works he had launched in these villages a few years ago.

"The incident took place when the convoy reached Buxar's Nandan village, where some locals started hurling stones on the vehicles. At least two security persons sustained injuries. The window panes and windscreens of several vehicles were broken, interrupting the motorcade for a few minutes," a senior official in Bihar government told DNA.

Sources said some locals also sustained injuries. "A section of the villagers were unhappy with the lack of development in their tola. They wanted the CM to see the actual situation and started hurling stones at his convoy when that did not happen," a local police officer said.

Earlier, the CM has been shown black flags and had to face anti-government slogans at some of his public meets during the yatra, especially by various contractual workers.

The CM was unperturbed by the incident and termed it a 'minor incident'. He said, "Some people, who were not happy with my commitment, provoked others for such things." He launched over 270 schemes worth Rs 168 crore at the village.

Tejaswi added, "The CM of the state was attacked, but noone has mentioned about 'Maha-jungleraj'… because the one who talked of jungleraj is not the deputy CM of the state."

The Opposition condemned the attack, but said the CM introspect why he is facing protests from all corners. "CM should evaluate his political character," said Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar legislative assembly.

The JD(U) and BJP, however, have alleged the attack to be a pre-planned incident and hinted at the involvement of the RJD behind it. "It seems some parties like the RJD are unable to practice politics of ideology and have to resort to violence," said BJP Bihar President Nityanand Rai.

Man arrested for threatening CM

One person was arrested in Patna for allegedly threatening to bomb CM Nitish and his bodyguards in a video. "One Pramod was arrested from rural Patna on basis of cellphone location and is being interrogated," a Patna police officer said.
