Maharashtra legislative council witnessed unprecedented scene on Friday when NCP leader Sunil Tatkare threatened to commit suicide by consuming poison after which Chairman Ramraje Naik-Nimbalkar adjourned the proceedings of the House for the entire day.

Tatkare had raised the issue of Gujarati language printing in 6th standard Marathi textbook of Geography in legislative council through the point of propriety during Zero Hour.

Raising the issue, Tatkare showed geography textbook printed in the Marathi language which contained 5-6 pages printed in the Gujarati language. Tatkare questioned the same and asked whether there was Gujarati invasion in various sectors, has it reached Maharashtra textbooks?

However, Leader of House and senior minister Chandrakant Patil denied that there are any Gujarati pages printed by Government.

Challenging Patil, Tatkare said, "There are one lakh geography books which have 5-6 pages printed in the Gujarati language."

Speaking to reporters, Bhai Jagtap said that it has happened for the first time and so far there were mistakes of content but now it was too much to see that pages are print in the Gujarati language.

When Tatkare alleged that the state government was trying to please Gujarat community in every decision, Bhai Jagtap pointed out that financial center was taken to Gujarat and now they want Marathi books printed in the Gujarati language.

Jagtap also said that it was surprising to see that Sena members did not utter a single word on this issue who otherwise are worried about respect of Marathi language.

Reiterating his stand, Chandrakant Patil alleged that Tatkare himself might have pasted a few pages in Gujarathi language to the original book.

However, angry over Patil's claim, Tatkare said, "In my decades of Parliamentary career I have never been alleged of such a thing and if you prove your charge, I would consume poison and commit suicide."
