The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ridiculed the induction of their former member Navjot Singh Sidhu in Congress, saying that the latter is a confused man and does not believe in ideology.

"Mr Sidhu is a confused man, he does not believe in ideology which is that of BJP where we believe nation first, party next and individual at last," BJP leader Shaina NC told ANI.

She further said that there are some political people or opportunist who choose to jump from party to party.

Earlier terming Sidhu a "traitor", Shiromani Akali Dal ( SAD) leader and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal alleged that he has betrayed his "mother party", the BJP, which brought him into the politics.

Cricketer-turned-politician Sidhu joined the Congress yesterday ahead of assembly elections in Punjab after yet another meeting with Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who welcomed him into the party.

The 58-year-old had quit the BJP in September 2016, complaining that he had been sidelined.
