Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be delivering his forthcoming speech at the United Nations General Assembly in Hindi.

Singh, who was speaking a function organized on the occasion of Hindi Diwas here, said former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had delivered his speech at the United Nations in Hindi.

"I still remember that as a minister I kept my views in Hindi even after requests coming not to do so, I said that I will speak only in Hindi…. Our current Prime Minister when he will be delivering his lecture at the United Nations then that will be in Hindi. Even he communicates in Hindi with foreign dignitaries," he said.

Rajnath further said that that as far as the relationship between communication and culture is concerned India's 55 percent population speaks Hindi while 85 to 90 percent people in the country understand Hindi even though it is not their mother tongue.

He also noted about how Bollywood plays an important part in this regard and said that Bollywood films were the most watched around the world next only to Hollywood flicks.

The Home Minister said Sanskrit is the mother of all Indian languages while Hindi and other regional languages are sisters.
