Following his Manipur rally from earlier today, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi hold another gathering in Assam.

"Assam has given us many great leader, he says while remembering the leaders from the Northeast. He stated, "Gopinath Bordoloi worked shoulder to shoulder with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel." He hits back at Rahul Gandhi, he says, "Sardar Patel is not a politician, but a national leader to the BJP."

He also takes the opportunity to connect with the people of Assam by evoking the 'tea' connection, "You know i have a special relation with tea," he said. "It was the tea from Assam that I used to serve as a kid," he adds.

"The situation in Assam worse than Nagaland," Modi claims. "There is so much crime, bomb blasts etc here, but they don't seem to care."

"The PM has been in Rajya Sabha from Assam for the last 23 years but has done nothing. Even our local party workers would have done more," he says. "There are 100 days to go before everything changes, Congress' ouster is certain," he adds.

"Have you benefitted from MGNREGA?" he questions the crowd. "Under MGNREGA only 10,018 people got employment out of 12 lakh people. Per capita income is the lowest in Assam among north-eastern states," he points out.

Modi further criticised the government, taking jibe at the chief minister Tarun Gogoi, "Just because your name is 'Tarun' (young), doesn't mean your thoughts too are 'Tarun' (young)."
