Upon the directive of a local court, a case has been registered against five men on charges of gang-raping a woman at Sujru village under Kotwali police station in the district.

The case was registered on Sunday upon the order of Chief Judicial Magistrate Narinder Kumar on the petition filed by the victim who alleged that no action had been taken on her complaint about the incident on October 8, 2014. The woman alleged that the accused had pressurised her to withdraw the complaint of gang-rape in 2012.

The woman was allegedly gang-raped by two men in 2012 and the case was pending in court. The accused were later released on bail and pressurised the woman to withdraw her complaint. Upon her refusal to do so, the woman was allegedly gang-raped by five men, including the two who had raped her in 2012, when she was returning home near Vehelna Chowk in 2014. Police has registered a case against Shakil, Kalsa, Rajesh, Wasid and an unidentified man in this connection and investigations have begun.
