Speaking against the meat ban by the BMC, MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Thursday claimed, "It is because of PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, that Gujarati people and Jains are feeling emboldened."

He also said that Jains cannot decide the policies of the state and vowed his party's support to those willing to sell meat in the state. "The Jains will not decide what will happen in Maharashtra. Digambar Jains roam naked showing their body, if that is okay then why is this meat ban issued in the state?" asked Thackeray.

"Tomorrow Muslims will also make such conditions on Ramzan and so will the shops stay closed?, he added.

He accused the BJP is communalising the issue. "This issue is taken as "Jains against Hindu". Only BJP will benefit from these vote bank tactics," he said.

"MNS will definitely support whoever wants to sell meat, won't follow the meat ban," he added.

Thackeray also mocked the BJP calling it the party 'Bhartiya Jantu Paksh'.
