Madhya Pradesh government to institute Rs 1 lakh award in the name of late nurse Aruna Shanbaug for those working for the cause of women victims of crime.
Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, announced on his Twitter page that the money will be given early for women empowerment and crimes against women.
In memory of Late Aruna Shanbaug, Govt will award Rs. 1 Lac yearly for working towards Women's empowerment, for helping victims of violence.

Aruna Shanbaug was a nurse at the KEM hospital in Mumbai. She died on Monday after lying in coma for 42 years following a brutal sexual assault by a ward boy who also strangled her with a chain cutting oxygen supply to her brain and leaving her in a vegetative state.
