As a pilot project, the postal department will be opening ATMs at its offices in the city. Initially, the department will install ATMs at five post offices in the city.

Senior officials of postal department said on Tuesday that initially, the ATMs will be installed at General Post Office (GPO), Jawahar Nagar post office, Shastri Nagar post office, Secretariat and Murlipura post office.
After seeing people’s response to this initiative, the department would install ATMs at more places in the city.
PL Somvanshi, senior superintendent, postal department, informed dna, “The ATMs would be installed at these places in Jaipur. And thereafter, the ATMs would be installed at other places too for the convenience of people.”
Thousands of people who use post offices to transfer money would benefit from this facility as they will be able to withdraw money from ATMs inside the post office and send it to anybody they want through money order or by electronic transfer.
Officials said that though it’s early to say, it’s being planned that customers will be given ATM cards which they can use at these machines for making their transactions; moreover customers of banks could also use these ATMs by paying a certain fee as per the rules.
Initially, all the ATMs of postal department will be interlinked.
The machines will also be linked with the banks under core banking system.
The postal department hopes that by December, it will be able to start this facility. The places for installation of ATM machines have also been selected and preparations are on to start this facility in Jaipur.
