Indian people have different eating habits, sects, ways of worship, but everyone's identity and religion is the same, RSS Sarsanghchalak (chief) Mohan Bhagwat said on Sunday.

"The values of sacrifice and restraint do not belong to one sort of worship or sect," he said, while addressing a congregation of RSS volunteers in Western UP's Meerut.

Everybody looks at diversity but the truth is that this is unity of diversity, he said.

He said fanatic Hindutva means fanaticism towards non-violence and generosity. "A person should have fanaticism for generosity and non-violence," he said.

The 'Rashtrodaya Sammelan' organised by RSS witnessed participation from several regions of UP and Uttarakhand. Several political leaders, MPs and MLAs were at the event.

"We Hindus need to unite because since ancient times this has been our home and we are obliged towards this country," said Bhagwat.
