ML Mandal petitions EC over name missing from voters list

Friday, 21 March 2014 - 10:30pm IST | Agency: PTI

Jhanjharpur MP and RJD candidate Mangani Lal Mandal today complained to the Election Commission that his name was missing from the voters' list, and sought rectification before the filing of nominations begins on April 2.

Mandal in a letter to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) V S Sampath pointed out that in 2009 Lok Sabha polls his name was in the electoral rolls in Patna, with his address at Bihar State Electricity Board colony, but this time his name has been deducted.

Mandal told reporters that he has requested the CEC to get his name included in the electoral rolls before the nomination process for the seat begins on April 2.

A candidate can not file nomination papers if his name is not present in the electoral rolls.

He is native of Gorgama village under Phulparas police station of Madhubani district.

Mandal won the Jhanjharpur seat in 2009 general elections on JD(U) ticket, but switched over to RJD recently
