Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Saturday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government for failing to deliver on the promises it had made prior to the Lok Sabha elections last year.

She said the government had not done anything for the betterment of the poor and the underprivileged since coming to power and was yet to bring back the black money stashed abroad. "BJP-led NDA government at the centre has failed to deliver on the promises that it had made during Lok Sabha elections. It's been around seven and a half months since BJP came to power and they have shown no inclination to do something for the betterment of the poor and the backward people," Mayawati said at a press conference here.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said the Central government had ignored the poor, Dalits and the people from religious minorities. "They have ignored the poor, Dalits and the people from religious minorities. Even BJP has not done anything about reservation in the private sector just like the UPA government. They do not want people from backward classes to come forward as Dr. B R Ambedkar had envisioned," she added.
