A 28-year old man was arrested for allegedly molesting a woman passenger at the Indira Gandhi international airport last night.

The accused, identified as Shravan Kumar, was in an inebriated condition when he misbehaved with the woman passenger around 11:30 PM. He was caught by the bystanders and beaten up before being handed over to police.

"The woman had landed at the airport from Dubai via an Indigo flight. As she was waiting outside Terminal- 3 for her brother to pick her up, the accused, who was also standing across the road started staring at her," said a senior police official. When the victim objected to it, he started abusing her and tried to fight with her. The woman then caught hold of him and raised an alarm. All the people standing around got together and thrashed the accused, he added.

Police personnel deployed at the nearby police booth were alerted who rushed to the spot. The accused was arrested and a medical examination of the accused revealed that he was in an inebriated state during the time of the incident. "A case under section 354 (molestation) and 509(Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) was registered. Kumar, who works as a loader with a ground handling company was produced before a local court on Friday which sent him to judicial custody," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport) M I Haider.
