Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had a right not to implement FDI in multi-brand retail in West Bengal Union Culture Minister Kumari Selja today said.

"You may not like to introduce it (FDI in retail) in your state and you have the right. This is part of our federal system," Selja said on the sidelines of a programme here.

Stating that the Congress is a large party which fought for national freedom and it was more concerned about country's economic development, she said, FDI entry in multi-brand retail was allowed after serious consideration. Selja, however, praised Mamata Banerjee as a "fighter" though she had left the Congress family.
