In the landmine blast that took place in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra on Wednesday, one policeman has succumbed to his injuries.

District collector ASR Naik said, "Gadchiroli experienced two attacks yesterday. There was an encounter between police officials and Naxals, wherein two cops were injured. Naxals also conducted a land mine blast yesterday afternoon, in which 12 cops of C-60 unit, used to combat naxals, were injured."

"The attacks took place when Gadchiroli District collector and SP were in Mumbai. The SP has been rushed to the area to tackle the situation," he added.

A mine protected vehicle of the C-60 commandos came under a landmine attack allegedly by Naxals in Gadchiroli. Officials said the incident took place near Bhamragad in the district when a patrol party of the C-60 commandos, was crossing the area.

The team of security force personnel had been conducting operations in the area.

Earlier on Wednesday, a CRPF jawan and two Maharashtra Police personnel were injured in an exchange of fire with the Naxals, a senior officer said.

On April 24, twenty-five CRPF personnel were killed and six wounded in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, the deadliest attack by naxalites targeting security forces this year.
