Ruling out that he would lead the separate Vidarbha movement, Aney said the leaders for the separate Vidarbha movement and agitation would come forward from the people of Vidarbha itself.
Reiterating his opinion on the need to create a separate Vidarbha state, Advocate General Shrihari Aney on Saturday said that even though he was being accused of being anti-Maharashtra for speaking his mind, how can he become anti-Vidarbha by not speaking for a separate state?
Expressing the need for an agitation for separate statehood, Aney in Chandrapur said he was doing his duty as the advocate general of Maharashtra with integrity.
He was speaking at a lecture on separate Vidarbha, organised to launch his book Vidarbha Gaatha in Chandrapur. It was on December 5, 2015, on the eve of winter session, that Aney had launched the book in Nagpur and made statements regarding separate Vidarbha. The statement had created an uproar in the state assembly during the winter session in Nagpur.
Ruling out that he would lead the separate Vidarbha movement, Aney said the leaders for the separate Vidarbha movement and agitation would come forward from the people of Vidarbha itself. He ruled out that any political party would lead this agitation. He said when it comes to serving the people of Vidarbha, it was the sons of the soil from the region who were going in the jungles and rural areas to serve the people.
Aney slams BJP, praises Sena
Advocate General Shrihari Aney said, "We should not believe any political party. Except for the honest Shiv Sena, all other parties only promise a separate Vidarbha but don't do anything after coming to the power." He said those who promise a separate state forget the promises after assuming the charge as ministers. Aney added said that the politicians said they were in favour of creating smaller states, but not in case of Vidarbha.
