The woes of the Mahagathbandhan seem to be unending with its constituents facing setbacks on multiple fronts. On one hand, the bickering of the Grand Alliance parties over seat-sharing formula for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls is out in the open. The Congress, by virtue of being a national party, wants to contest on an equal number of constituencies as the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the single largest party in the Bihar legislative assembly.

"Our senior leaders have already said that the RJD will contest on no less than 20 of the 40 seats in Bihar. In that case, it is not possible to give 20 seats to Congress as we need to accommodate several other alliance partners too," said an RJD leader. The Congress though has made it clear that it will play on "front foot" from now.

Additionally, following a bitter battle over occupancy of official bungalow which reached the Supreme Court, leader of the Opposition in Bihar legislative Assembly and RJD MLA Tejashwi Prasad Yadav started vacating his 5, Deshratna Marg residence, on Wednesday.
