In his letter to a Joint Director of CBI, he refers to the earlier letters and orders passed by him suo motu with regard to the selection of Junior Divisional officers post for which an interview was conducted by five judges of the High Court including Justice Dhanapalan, and made same allegations against him regarding his educational qualifications.
Justice Karnan alleged that Justice Dhanapalan had produced B L Degree Course certificate stating that he had studied Law in a regular course and also enrolled as an advocate at Bar Council of Tamil Nadu in 1983.
Justice Dhanapalan could not be reached for his comments. The Madras High Court registry had yesterday complained to the Supreme Court against Justice Karnan for making "intemperate observations" about the role and functioning of its Chief Justice S K Kaul.
In the plea which came for hearing before a bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu, the High Court registry said that the judge made various intemperate observations against certain fellow judges as well as the Chief Justice of the high court. Stating that as the Supreme Court was now seized of the matter, Justice Karnan said he was duty bound to disclose the facts of the case with relevant records before the apex court.
He requested the Joint Director, CBI, Chennai to conduct a comprehensive inquiry to determine the veracity of his charges to prove his case before the apex court and before the Madras High Court Registry.
